We’re now accepting applications for Extracted- and to celebrate, we talked with Luke Olson from Season 2 for a Mystic Spotlight!
Luke came into Extracted as a blue-collar dad who'd never hunted a day in his life — and left with a forever-changed perspective, a heart full of gratitude, and strangers asking for his photo at hunting expos.
On how the show changed his perspective: “It was a forever mind-altering thing. I realized how much I’ve taken for granted, especially access to clean water. Partnering with organizations to dig wells in Zambia gave me a taste of how many people have it worse off in the grand scheme of things. It was incredibly eye-opening.”
On life after the show: “I’m from a blue-collar family—I fix basements for a living. It’s a very foreign thing for people to recognize me now! I’ve had random people ask for photos and even been invited to speak at hunting expos, even though I’ve never hunted a day in my life. It’s been cool to see people I’ve never met hanging on to every episode.”
On the adventure of a lifetime: “Being part of something so few people will ever experience was an incredible honor. It was a life-changing moment- my wife and kids are my everything, and it made me realize just how much I depend on them.”
On working w/ Mystic: "My brothers and I are seriously so thankful for the whole team on MysticArt Pictures for taking a chance on us! We're also so thankful for Paula- we talk about how thankful we are to her often!"
His advice for YOU if you're thinking about submitting for the next season?
"When it gets rough, remember whom you're doing it for...I did the work to prepare—swimming, running, cutting caffeine—but you can never be fully 'knowledge-prepared' until you’re actually in that environment."
The people who belong on this show aren't the ones who have it all figured out — they're the ones who show up anyway. Sound like you? Then submit now at ExtractedCasting.com
